A.S.Wright Builders was appointed main contractor in early 2011 by Mr. & Mrs. P. McGuigan to undertake and over see all parts of the contract, from project managing to demolition , building works and landscaping. The finished dwelling was to have a high emphasis on self sufficiency. A key element within the design process was that the eco elements were not to detract from the overall design of the house. This was an important factor to all parties that demolishing the existing building needed to be justified by constructing a New Build that would be more self- sufficient and eco- friendly but still aesthetically pleasing. A.S.Wright builders worked in partnership with the appointed architects Bryant + Moore, who A.S. Wright has worked in conjunction with on numerous projects over many years.
The project lasted approximately 11 months. The finished dwelling consisted of solar thermal and photovoltaic panels on the roof to boost hot water and electrical supply. Discreetly hidden below the decking was a 5000 litre rainwater harvester and two air source heat pumps to provide underfloor heating to all three levels. The completed size of the dwelling was 4,500 sq. ft.
We recently demolished and rebuilt our home in Cuffley and were extremely fortunate to have Alan Wright carry out the work for us. Would I recommend him and his team?
We were complete novices to the world of home improvement and Alan made the whole journey a manageable experience from beginning to end. His expertise, skill, conscientiousness and endless patience were faultless throughout. Nothing was too much trouble and every member of the team he brought to the site was equally professional, courteous and reliable.
The outcome? We have a home exceeding anything that we had dreamed of! There were no corners cut and the finish was fantastic – Alan’s eye for detail exceeded even ours! He is a true gem in the world of builders, taking a genuine pride in the work he carries out and completing everything to a very high standard.
Building a home involves thousands of decisions but the best one we made was employing Alan!
